Paperino’s West End doubles staff to cope with stunning success

Paperino’s West End, the restaurant which has taken Glasgow’s trendiest dining district by storm, has nearly trebled its staff since it opened just over a month ago, to cope with unprecedented demand.

The Byres Road outlet – an offshoot of Paperino’s, the Sauchiehall Street restaurant which revolutionised Glasgow’s approach to Italian food – was launched at the beginning of last month with just 24 employees.

It now employs 48 highly-trained and motivated staff, praised by owners Stefano and Sandro Giovanazzi for their contribution to the restaurant’s stunning success. They said that if the response from the dining public continued at its present rate, it was likely that they would hire yet more people.

The new restaurant, which emphasises traditional Italian cuisine in a relaxed, neighbourhood setting, combines the extensive range of dishes found in the original restaurant with a new takeaway service, early morning coffee and pastries and a specially created children’s menu.

Stefano Giovanazzi said: “Sandro and I were born and raised in the West End and we hoped that the new restaurant would be a focal point for this exciting and cosmopolitan community.

“It has been an added bonus that we have been able to provide so many high quality jobs and we would like to thank our staff for the fantastic contribution they have made to a Scottish success story.”
